POS and Repair Software for Computer and Laptop Shops
Gadgets POS works as computer repair shop software and a POS for laptop and PC sellers. Serial-numbered stock, spec labels with storage, RAM and processor, repair jobs with parts and a technician, trade-ins and your own web shop all run in one system, so the shop floor and the workbench share the same records.
Last reviewed:Serial-numbered laptops and computers
A laptop on your shelf has a serial number, and so does the one you sold last month. Gadgets POS lets you mark computers, laptops and tablets as serialised so each unit is recorded on its own, from the purchase that brought it in to the sale that took it out. Accessories and components that do not need a serial number can be counted by quantity.
Stock is costed first in, first out and the margin on a sale comes from what that unit cost. Stock records are never deleted. For the way serialised stock works, see IMEI inventory software, which applies to serial numbers as well as IMEIs.
Spec labels: storage, RAM and processor
Computers are sold on their specification, and customers ask about it at the shelf. Products can carry storage, RAM and processor, and the labels you print can show them next to the price and barcode. Labels print on Zebra and DYMO label printers. See POS hardware and label printing for the printers and paper sizes, and for the 15.6-inch touch-screen terminal we supply for the counter.
Computer repair shop software: repairs with parts and technician
A computer repair is taken in with the model, the serial number, the fault and the price. You assign a technician or an outside technician, set a priority and an expected collection date, and attach the parts you use from lab stock, so the job shows its cost and profit. Warranty templates are saved with the job.
The repair form is not limited to phones: laptops, desktops, consoles and tablets all use the same fields. The full description is on phone repair shop software, and the same job record applies.
Trade-ins and upgrades
A customer who trades in an old laptop against a new one has it valued at the till, netted off the sale, and the old machine goes into stock under its own serial number, ready to be refurbished or sold. Returns and replacements go on the same order. See trade-in software.
Sell online
If you want a web shop, the Buy section sells your computers and accessories from the same product and stock records as the till, and the Repair section can show your repair prices and take bookings. The shop is set up for you by our team on your own domain. See POS with an online shop. For a wider range of electronics, read about the gadget shop POS system.
Questions from computer shop owners
Does it work for laptop and PC repair?
Yes. The repair form records the device type and model, the serial number, the fault, the price, a technician and priority, an expected collection date and the parts used from lab stock. Each job shows its cost and profit. Nothing in it is phone-specific, so laptops, desktops, tablets and consoles use the same fields.
Can I track serial numbers?
Yes. You choose product by product whether an item is serialised. Serialised laptops and computers are held as individual units with their serial numbers, from the purchase they came from to the sale, return or trade-in. You can search a serial number across sales, returns and trade-ins. Accessories are simply counted.
Can I print spec labels?
Yes. Products can carry storage, RAM and processor, and the labels you print can show them alongside the price and barcode. Labels print on Zebra and DYMO label printers. We have not tested every printer model, so tell us which printer you use and we will confirm the setup in your demo.
