POS and Online Shop for Phone and Gadget Shops
Gadgets POS is a POS with an online store for phone shops. Your own web shop, on your own domain, has three sections: Buy for new and used devices, Sell for trade-in quotes and Repair for prices and bookings. The orders land in the same system as your till, so you run the shop and the website from one place.
Last reviewed:Buy: sell new and used devices online
The Buy section is a shop window for your stock. Customers browse your phones, tablets and accessories, add them to a basket and check out. Product pages show the options for each device and whether it is in stock, and out-of-stock items show as sold out.
You choose which of the three sections to switch on, and the look of the shop comes from a template and a page builder, so the site can match your branding rather than looking like a generic marketplace listing.
Sell: trade-in quotes and payouts
The Sell section lets customers tell you about the phone they want to sell, get a quote, choose how to send it and pick how they are paid: voucher, PayPal, bank transfer or cash. After you inspect the device you can change the price with a reason and photos, and the customer is told. An instant-quote section can be placed on your pages, and customers who abandon a quote get a reminder email.
This is the online side of trade-ins and is described in full on phone buyback website. The till side is trade-in software.
Repair: price list, appointments and mail-in
The Repair section shows your repair price list and lets customers book an appointment at a store, with reminders and reschedule and cancel links. They can also choose a mail-in repair, with a postage choice and photos of the issue. Your staff see each booking and its history. See online repair booking.
POS with an online store for phone shops: one stock and one order list
A web shop is only useful if what it shows matches what is on your shelves. The Buy section reads the same product and stock records as the till, including the stock held in open carts, so a phone sold at the counter stops being available online, and the other way round.
Orders from the web shop appear alongside your shop orders in the same system, and customers get order emails from your own email settings. That is the difference between a POS with ecommerce built in and a separate ecommerce platform bolted on, where somebody has to keep two stock lists in step. The guide Can one system run your shop and website? covers the pros and cons of each approach.
Store pickup and a store locator with ratings
If you have shops, customers can choose to collect an order from a store at checkout. A store locator can find the nearest shop from a postcode, and each store can show its Google rating. For a shop with several branches, that links the website to the pavement.
SEO tools built into your shop
Each web shop has search engine tools in its settings: titles and descriptions on products, categories and pages, rules for what search engines should and should not index, redirects you manage yourself, and the robots and sitemap files. Structured data for products, breadcrumbs and FAQs is generated for you. None of this promises a ranking, but it means you can do the basics without a separate plugin.
Payments on the web shop
Online payments run through gateways you connect: Stripe, Square, PayPal and myPOS, with cash on delivery as an option. Which ones you use depends on your own accounts with those providers. These are web shop payments. In store, card payments are recorded on the order next to cash and bank payments.
Set up with our team, on your own domain
The web shop is not a self-service sign-up. Our team sets it up with you, on your own domain, and you decide which sections to switch on. If you are comparing options, ask for a demo of both the till and the web shop on the same data, and see pricing for how plans are structured. Our POS system for mobile phone shops page explains the rest of the product.
Questions about the online shop
Does my web shop use the same stock as the till?
Yes. The Buy section of the web shop reads the same product and stock records as the till, including stock held in open carts, so a phone sold at the counter is no longer shown as available online. Products set up with unmanaged stock can be oversold, so check how each product is configured in your demo.
Can customers collect in store?
Yes. At checkout, customers can choose to collect from one of your stores, and a store locator can find the nearest one from a postcode. This works when you have set up your stores in the system. You decide which delivery and collection options to show on your own shop.
Which payment methods does the web shop take?
The web shop can take payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal and myPOS, plus cash on delivery. You connect your own accounts with the providers you want to use. These are web shop payments. In the shop itself, card payments are recorded on the order next to cash and bank payments.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The web shop runs on your own domain, and our team sets it up with you. You choose how it looks from templates and a page builder. Email notifications can be sent from your own email settings, and your shop's search engine settings, such as redirects and sitemaps, are managed from your dashboard.
Is it self-service?
No. The web shop is set up with you by our team rather than through a self-service sign-up. Once it is running, you manage products, pages, prices and settings yourself from the dashboard. If you want to see how that would work for your shop, start your 15-day free trial and tell us what you sell.
