Gift Cards, Vouchers and Loyalty in the Same System
Gadgets POS sells and redeems gift cards, issues vouchers with an expiry, and runs a loyalty points scheme with tiers and reward vouchers. All of it sits in the same system as your till and your customer records, so staff do not need a separate app to look up a card or a balance.
Sell and redeem gift cards
Gift cards are sold, issued and redeemed at the till, and a customer can pay for part or all of an order with one.
Sell a gift card at the counter
Issue a gift card for an amount the customer chooses, and print a slip with the card on it.
Redeem on a sale
Look the card up at the payment step and use its balance as one part of a split payment with cash or card.
Expiry by default
Gift cards expire after six months by default, so the date is set without anyone having to remember it.
One record per card
Each card keeps its own record of issue and use, which is useful if a customer disputes a balance.
Vouchers with expiry
Vouchers are for when the shop gives credit rather than selling it: a goodwill gesture, a trade-in payout or a promotion.
Vouchers expire after one month by default, which keeps unspent credit from lingering. At the till, staff enter the voucher code on the order and the discount is applied to the cart. A voucher can apply to the whole order or to particular products, categories or customers. Vouchers can also be the payout option for trade-ins sold through your web shop.
Loyalty points and tiers
Switch loyalty on for your business and customers earn points as they spend.
Earn rate you control
Set the points earned for each pound spent as a business-wide rate, and override it for particular products or categories.
What a point is worth
Choose the value of each redeemed point, a minimum number of points to redeem, and a cap on how much of an order points can cover.
Tiers
Create named tiers so regular customers move up as they spend.
Redeem at the till
Staff redeem points from the customer's balance on the order, without leaving the sale, and the points become a discount.
Reward vouchers
Reward vouchers turn loyalty into a prize: a voucher a customer can spend in the shop.
You decide how many days a reward voucher stays valid; the default is 30 days. The voucher can be printed when it is issued, and because a reward is an ordinary voucher, it is redeemed at the till with its code like any other.
Printable loyalty cards
Each loyalty customer has a card number, and the card can be printed for them to keep.
Printing a card takes seconds at the counter, and the number links back to the customer's record. We have not tested every printer model, and card layouts depend on the printer you use, so check the setup with us during your demo.

Questions about loyalty
How long do gift cards and vouchers last?
By default, gift cards expire after six months and vouchers after one month. Reward vouchers use an expiry in days that you set in the loyalty settings. These are defaults, so check the settings for your business in your demo.
Can customers earn loyalty points on everything they buy?
You set a business-wide earn rate, for example points per pound spent, and you can override it for particular products or categories. You also set what a point is worth, the minimum to redeem and how much of an order points may cover.
Can I use a gift card as part of a split payment?
Yes. At the payment step you look the gift card up and use its balance as one part of the payment, with cash, card or bank transfer covering the rest. The card keeps its own record of how it has been used. Vouchers work differently: they are applied as a discount with a code.
